Purpose

Established in 2024 through the generous support of Atlas, this award is intended to promote growth and inclusion by supporting travel to the CoSA Annual Meeting for those individuals who are typically underrepresented in the CoSA Community. The Awards Committee defines “underrepresented” in the broadest way, and nominees may represent such communities as an individual or by the institution at which they work. By receiving this support, individuals can contribute to critical conversations in the field and make important connections with colleagues.

Eligibility

  • Any individual currently employed at a CoSA Member Institution. First-time conference attendees are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Attendance at the 2024 CoSA Annual Meeting.
  • Willingness to submit a reflection on your attendance at the CoSA Annual Meeting and how you applied something you learned. This could be through a blog or brief interview with a CoSA Team Member.

Nomination Requirements

Award nominations may be from any individual. Self-nominations are encouraged.

  • Online nomination form. Within the form you will be asked to submit basic information on the nominee and the individual making the nomination (if different). You'll also upload the following documents:
    • Brief Bio including how the nominee reflects an underrepresented aspect of the CoSA Community and how the recipient intends to share lessons learned to advance government archives.
    • A detailed budget (no more than one page) – the budget should include all travel costs, not just those that will be covered by the award. Funds may be applied to airfare/transportation, lodging, registration, and meals not covered by registration costs.
    • Letter of support from one person (CoSA member or other) familiar with the nominee.
    • Supporting materials (optional) could include a resume or expanded biography; illustration of contributions to the field of government archives; press releases; or other materials.
