Chronopolis is a service for bit-level preservation of digital objects. Chronopolis uses a stack of open source tools: Audit Control Environment (ACE), iRODS, and Bag-It to monitor digital objects across three geographically dispersed storage locations: San Diego Supercomputing Center (SDSC), National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS). Chronopolis was TRAC certified in 2009 by the Center for Research Libraries (CRL).
