Preserving and Disposing of Government Records
The purpose of this publication is to help Minnesota state and local government entities identify records, assess their value, and determine how long to keep them. It provides a general overview of state and local government entities’ records management responsibilities. This publication was created to walk records creators through the basic principles of records management. It starts out by defining a “government entity” and what its responsibilities are. It describes official records, and then goes through the basic steps of setting up a records management system.
