Event Description
Getting to know Enslaved.org
When:
Sep 22, 2022 from 03:00 PM to 04:00 PM (ET)
Enslaved.org is a discovery platform that interconnects people involved in the historical slave trade so that we can see the lives of enslaved persons, families, and communities in richer detail. It is built from disparate datasets contributed by scholars, librarians, archivists, and genealogists.
Daryle Williams and Catherine Foley will provide an overview of Enslaved.org: Peoples of the Historical Slave Trade; describe the data model that drives the Enslaved.org discovery hub; identify resources that can guide the development of historical slavery datasets; and explain how contributors submit new datasets to Enslaved.org through the Journal of Slavery and Data Preservation.
