    Hi everyone,

At yesterday's Archivists Who Code discussion, we talked (among other things) about the January 9 SERI webinar, which will focus on some of the changes that will come to SERI in 2024. One of these changes is an increased emphasis on "SERI communities" that bring together state and territorial archivists and records analysts who have similar roles and responsibilities or who are interested in a specific topic. The organizers of the webinar wanted to know what the members of the Archivists Who Code community found valuable about it, and what follows is my attempt to summarize the key points made during yesterday's discussion:

    • Get to know other state and territorial archivists who have similar work responsibilities and face similar challenges
    • Exchange information about specific tools, methods, and approaches and relevant professional development opportunities
    • Solicit feedback about specific issues and concerns
    • Demonstrate one's own code and scripts
    • Build upon the code and scripts developed by other members
    • Learn about how others are tackling shared challenges

If you were at yesterday's discussion, please let me know if I missed anything or failed to capture any facet of the exchange. If you weren't at today's discussion, is there anything you would like to add to the list? If so, please respond (to the group or to me privately) by 12:00 PM ET on Friday, January 5. Thanks!

    Best wishes,

    Bonnie
