    Position:

    Under the direction of the Delaware Heritage Commission, applications are being accepted for the position of:    Delaware State Coordinator For The State of Delaware 250th Anniversary Celebration Of The Nation's Founding.

     

    Position Description:

    The Delaware State Coordinator will be responsible for communicating, coordinating and collaborating with individuals, organizations, and entities in order to advance and implement both public and private activities that celebrate the 250th Anniversary.  The celebratory approach is to convene and facilitate a Delaware-wide commemoration, inclusive of multiple partners and representative of the diverse individuals, histories, stories and communities that signify Delaware's roll in the nation's founding and lengthy history of the past 250 years.

    The Delaware State Coordinator is to work closely with, and actively support, an array of historical, educational and tourism organizations state-wide to maximize opportunities related to the commemorative period. 

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work with the Delaware Heritage Commission to devise strategic planning.
    • Monitor budget and make recommendations for expenditures.
    • Interact with state-wide entities regarding commemorative activities.
    • Develop, promote, and market strategies to ensure awareness of commemorative activities.
    • Build consensus with community leaders, historical organizations, educational venues, and tourism to promote and conduct commemorative activities.
    • Provide support on program, event, and campaign planning for state-wide initiatives.
    • Maintain 250th Anniversary state website.
    • Serve as Chair of State of Delaware 250th Anniversary Committee.
    • Serve as State of Delaware liaison to The American 250 Foundation.
    • Supervise two professional level staff.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate or bachelor's degree in History, Education, Political Science, or related field.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in outreach, public programming, partnership building, government relations, communications, or administration.
    • Excellent research, writing, copy editing, and communication skills.
    • Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness across all areas of the 250th Anniversary planning and activity.
    • Exceptional management skills: the ability to influence key audiences and individuals.
    • Poise and confidence needed to establish credibility and respect with high visibility audiences and individuals and the media.
    • Excellent inter/intra personal dynamic skills and communication skills.
    • Willingness and ability to make difficult or unpopular decisions as warranted.

     

    Salary will be dependent upon experience and education.  Range will be $90,000 to $100,000.  Position will report to the Chair of the Delaware Heritage Commission and the Director of the Delaware Public Archives/State Archivist.

    This is a contractual position with no State of Delaware merit employee benefits.
