LOCKSS Box performs five main functions: ingest, preserve, delivers, manages, and migrate content (viewing only).

Alabama Example: ADPNET (Alabama Digital Preservation Network, www.adpn.org) is a private LOCKSS network composed of universities, state agencies, and cultural organizations in the state, including Alabama Commission on Higher Education, Alabama Department of Archives and History, Auburn University, Birmingham Public Library, Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, Spring Hill College, Troy University, University of Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and University of North Alabama. Any organization with digital collections that are freely available to the public may join. It is a program of the Network of Alabama Academic Libraries.
