Guide for preventing an avoidable record disaster and minimizing damage to public records. The manual addresses disasters both large and small; man made and natural. It applies to public records in all formats including paper, tapes, microfilm and electronic.  Sections include: an overview, identifying essential records, assessing risks, preventing disasters, protecting records from harm, planning for recovery and salvage, implementing salvage plan, post recovery, creating a plan, the plan after adoption, and related templates.
