Focus Group: Automating Records Preservation in a Microsoft 365 World

When:  Jun 7, 2022 from 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM (ET)

The widespread adoption of Microsoft 365 in the public sector as well as the mass migration of legacy content from shared drives and ECM systems has highlighted a persistent challenge in records and archives management --- namely preservation of and access to permanent and long-time electronic records. In this 90-minute interactive session Preservica will introduce to CoSA members its newest product – Preserve 365.

Preserve 365 leverages retention labels and other native M365 governance capabilities to enable the automated copy or transfer of content into its active digital preservation environment while at the same time providing users with visibility of their records from within M365. Tanya Marshall, Vermont State Archivist and Chief Records Officer, participated in an early beta test and will share her team’s experience as well as the vision for a “digital preservation in place” strategy that Vermont and other organizations are pursuing.

Focus group participants will see demonstrations of the product and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide suggestions to the Preservica team. Preservica looks forward to learning about government records transfer requirements directly from expert practitioners to inform its ongoing Preserve 365 product design and development efforts.
