Join archival advocates from across the country on Tuesday, July 25, when we hold our second "Archives on the Hill" event. This day of advocacy with legislative policy makers coincides with the CoSA-SAA Joint Annual Meeting.
Many issues that archivists face in our day-to-day work cannot be solved by ourselves or a single institution. Systemic barriers require systemic and collective solutions! We are looking for advocates who are ready to share information about archives issues and concerns related to archives, archivists, and the resources our researchers need to promote change on a national level--things like increased funding for archival programs across the country and improved statutes to ensure the essential evidence of our democracy is preserved and accessible. If this is you, join us in Washington, DC!
What you'll do as an advocate:
- Attend a training
- Meet with your legislative policy maker(s) on July 25th
- Attend a debrief or fill out a form to share what happened at your visit
- Ask the AotH team for any support you need along the way!
What the Archives on the Hill Coordinating Committee will do to support you:
- Identify legislative contacts
- Produce information packets
- Schedule meetings
- Hold a training and a debrief
- Team you up with experienced advocates
- Provide any support you need along the way!
The Archives on the Hill Coordinating Committee
-Council of State Archivists
-National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators
-Society of American Archivists
Most sincerely,
Joy
