An exciting opportunity for those of you who may be interested in attending the National Humanities Conference in October. CoSA is an organizational member of NHA, and it would be wonderful to have government archives reflected at the meeting. NHA has included advocacy for NARA and federal funding for archives in their Humanities on the Hill agendas for the last several years. Whether you receive the travel award or not, it looks like all applicants will be given a waiver for virtual registration to the conference.

    Most sincerely,

    Joy

    NHC Equitable Access Grants Announced

The Federation of State Humanities Councils (Federation) and the National Humanities Alliance (NHA) are pleased to announce a grant program to support the attendance and travel expenses of up to 30 attendees of the 2023 National Humanities Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana October 25-29. We are grateful to the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for its support of this program.

Applications are due by July 8, 2023.

The grants will reimburse travel, lodging, and registration expenses relating to the National Humanities Conference for U.S.-based humanities students, professionals, and scholars from a range of organizations such as state and jurisdictional humanities councils, community colleges, four-year colleges, universities, museums, community organizations, and libraries. The grants are also available to those who are not affiliated with a particular organization.

Applications are particularly encouraged from individuals from marginalized populations and communities previously underrepresented at the National Humanities Conference and those who do not have institutional support to take advantage of professional development opportunities. Preference will be given to applicants who can articulate the barriers to access that they have faced in their humanities education and/or work and explain how participation in this conference will benefit their professional development.

Preference will also be given to applicants who are members of the humanities council community, are employed by or a student at an NHA member institution, or are affiliated with one of NHA's scholarly society members. View the full list of NHA member institutions and organizations.

Grants of up to $1,895 will reimburse recipients for conference registration, travel, and lodging expenses. Several (but not all) meals are included in the registration cost. Grant recipients are required to attend the entire National Humanities Conference in Indianapolis October 25-29, 2023. At the conference, the cohort will discuss their work relevant to the conference theme, Crossroads, with each other and other conference attendees at a roundtable session, gather to get to know one another over breakfast, network with conference attendees, and meet with senior staff from the NEH.

Visit the Federation of State Humanities Councils' website for additional information and instructions on how to apply.

Thank you for your NHA membership! You can review your member benefits here .
