Welcome and Congratulations!
You have been appointed to serve as as a member of your state's State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB). The state coordinators—who are usually the state archivists—and the state boards work closely with the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), a grant-making affiliate of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), as part of a national effort to save and make accessible the documentation on which the study and appreciation of American history depends.
Members of the Commission and its staff as well as the appointing officials in your state and your fellow citizens appreciate your willingness to participate in this important work.
SHRAB Manuals
In order to help facilitate your understanding of State Historical Records Advisory Boards and the work you will be doing, CoSA and NHPRC have worked together to develop SHRAB manuals and an orientation program. Visit the Manuals and Orientation page for information on how to obtain these materials.
Other Resources
The SHRAB Support Center contains additional information and links to a variety of tools and materials designed to help you and your SHRAB conduct your own work and serve the needs of repositories throughout your state.
Thank you for taking on this important work
You have joined a nationwide network of more than 530 individuals who demonstrate their commitment to preserving our nation's documentary heritage through service on SHRABs.
If you have any questions about the operation of SHRABs or NHPRC programs, you are welcome to contact your state coordinator, NHPRC staff, or Council of State Archivists staff.
