At its July 2005 annual meeting in Richmond, Virginia,
the Council of State Historical Records Coordinators voted to change
the name of the organization to the Council of State Archivists (CoSA).
The new, more descriptive name will help the Council with its increasingly
visible work in outreach and advocacy.
The Council’s new name retains links to the
old, but provides a more concrete image for those outside the archival
profession – an important asset as the group continues its work
on the behalf of the nation’s historical records.
The organization’s new logo and graphics will
be similar to those used for COSHRC:
CoSA’s website will be located at www.statearchivists.org,
but this URL is not yet active. The organization will continue to use
www.coshrc.org until the transition is complete.
The name change will be effective October 1,
2005.
