The Council of State Archivists
works to ensure that our nation’s historical records are valued,
preserved, and widely used.
The Council, through its representatives from
each of the states, territories, and the District of Columbia, will:
Articulate the significance of historical records
and advocate on their behalf;
Promote sound archival practices in identifying,
preserving, and accessing historical records;
Provide leadership to public and private historical
records programs;
Develop practical products that address archival
priorities identified by the states and territories; and
Collaborate with the National Historical Publications
and Records Commission and with other organizations that share this
mission.
